Africa Cup of Nations Semis pit arch rivals. 27.01.2010

Forget about Zambia, Cote d'Ivoire or even World Cup 2010 hosts, Bafana Bafana.

The latter did not even make it to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

Zambia suffered at the hands of the Super Eagles at the quarter finals stage when they lost 5-4 in penalties. But take note, Chipolopolo are rebuilding and featured the youngest player at the tournament, a 16 year old who ran harvoc around 'madalas' from Nigeria. No wonder, a Nigerian player was sent for an early shower.

But, the Super Eagles are through to face perennial arch rivals Ghana. The heat is on Ghana now who are also using this tournament to prepare for the world cup in RSA, which is only five months away.

In another tie, north African rivals, Egypt and Algeria clash. It is anyone's game as both sides are physical and play a fast game.

Yours truly will not attempt to give a prediction on which two will go through. The best prepared will.

In the meantime, Napier proved to be a success town for the Zim U-19 cricket side who Wednesday dismissed Hong Kong to secure 13th position out of 16 teams.

Being there is everything, we told the boys. They leave for Zimbabwe tomorrow via Hong Kong.

All the best boys, you carried the Zimbabwe flag high this far.

The Africa Cup of Nations finals are on the 31st.
