Zim U-19 cricket team loses 3rd game in a row and transfers to Napier 20.01.2010

New Zealand eased to their second win of the cricket under-19 World Cup with a seven-wicket trouncing of Zimbabwe at Bert Sutcliffe Oval near Christchurch.

Despite conceding 28 extras, New Zealand's bowling attack did well to dismiss Zimbabwe for 135 in 42.2 overs today.

Christchurch weather was forgiving and the mercury hit 21 degrees but that did not help. Neither did the presence of fancied drummers.

On Wednesday, New Zealand play Sri Lanka in a game that is tipped to up the scales. Both sides have dismissed Canada and Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe are the lowest ranking in the group as they lost their three games.

On Thursday the team travels to Napier where the few Zimbabweans based there are expected to try and match the Christchurch support base.

The Zimbabwe community in Christchurch put up a memorable evening (Tuesday) for the team at a local church hall. The boys were treated to sadza and 'museve' dance.

Good luck boys, it has been great having you around Christchurch.

The boys return to Zimbabwe around the 29th January.
